Terms of Service
Effective date: July 11, 2026
1. Who we are
Sifter (the "Software") is a local gateway for coding-agent traffic, published by Olmsted AI ("Olmsted," "we," "us"). These terms govern your download, licensing, and use of the Software and the olmsted-ai.com website.
2. Merchant of record
Paid licenses are sold through Paddle.com Market Ltd or Paddle.com Inc. ("Paddle") as merchant of record. Paddle handles payment, invoicing, applicable taxes, and refund processing, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to your purchase in addition to these terms. Olmsted does not collect or store your payment details.
3. License grant
Subject to payment (or an active trial) and these terms, Olmsted grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to run the Software for your internal business or personal use, in the quantity of developer seats stated on your license file. A "seat" is one developer whose coding-agent traffic routes through the Software, whether run locally or on a shared container. You may not resell, sublicense, or offer the Software as a hosted service to third parties without a separate written agreement.
4. Trials
Trial licenses are free, last 30 days, require no payment details, and carry the same terms. When a trial or paid license expires, the Software fails open: it stops applying optimization and continues serving your traffic as a transparent passthrough. Expiry never blocks your traffic.
5. Your responsibilities
You provide and pay for your own model-provider accounts (for example, an Anthropic API key). Your use of model providers through the Software remains subject to those providers' terms, and you are responsible for complying with them. You are responsible for the prompts, code, and data you route through the Software; they run in your environment and are never transmitted to Olmsted.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use the Software to violate law, to infringe others' rights, to attempt to circumvent license verification for the purpose of accessing paid optimization features without payment, or to build a competing product by systematic extraction of its behavior. Security research against your own deployment is welcome.
7. Savings and performance
Published savings figures are medians from paired benchmark sessions measured with Claude Code on the Anthropic API, methodology available on request. Your savings depend on your workloads, session length, and agent behavior, and are not guaranteed. The free trial exists so you can measure the Software against your own invoice before paying.
8. Intellectual property
The Software, site, and documentation are owned by Olmsted and its licensors. These terms transfer no ownership. Feedback you choose to send us may be used to improve the Software without obligation to you.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes the limited data we handle. In short: the Software runs locally and does not phone home; we receive what you submit on the trial form or through Paddle at purchase.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OLMSTED'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. OLMSTED IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR MODEL-PROVIDER CHARGES INCURRED THROUGH YOUR OWN ACCOUNTS.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Software at any time; cancellation of a subscription takes effect at the end of the paid period. We may terminate a license for material breach of these terms. Sections 8, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
14. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
